Just a few years ago, the very mention of a white Boxer was anathema. Otherwise normal breeders would get really angry and proclaim such dogs' inferiority, citing their increased liability to deafness (due to their lack of pigmented cells within the inner ear), and they spoke of these Boxers' serious genetic defects. The fact, that their genetic background is the same as our coloured ones, was studiously ignored.
The American
Boxer Club, for many years, forbade
their sale, or placement, by ABC members; severe penalties
were invoked for such practices.
Personally, I think that our liking for flash is not consonant with our prohibition of more than 1/3 of white markings in the Boxer's hair coat.
Currently, changes will make it possible for ABC members to sell them with American Kennel Club limited registration, subject to spaying and restricted prices. A new ABC Code of Ethics has been approved, in 2005.
I predict that, before many years pass, we shall have classes for white Boxers at American KC conformation shows.
Here are a few of them for you to admire.
