Shirley and Glyn live and have raised their family in North Wales. The climate is harsher than that of Byfleet, yet Shirley keeps a lovely garden. She and her daughter, Philippa, have been able to visit with me, twice, in Texas.

Their youngsters have flown the nest, however, Shirley is happy to play a part in the rearing of their children. They are her joy.

For most of Glyn's life he worked in the mills and also, in his latter years, in the coal mines.

The party illustrated was given for Shirley's sixtieth birthday and it was a big surprise for her.
